What an Adult Can Expect

You will meet with me for your first appointment for anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. The main goal of each session is for you to leave feeling better than you when you arrived. 

The first session will be your time to tell me the following:

  • Current issues/stressors/symptoms/behaviors
  • Your strengths, weaknesses, and desires
  • Brief “synopsis” of your childhood, your teenage years, young adulthood
  • Family relationships
  • Substance/Alcohol Use history and current
  • Your Accomplishments
  • Future goals

I take a Psychodynamic and Behavioral approach when assessing clients. This means looking at underlying emotions (both positive and negative) that come from life experiences. You will educate me on how you manage your emotions, cope with stress, and communicate with others. You can tell me what has or has not worked for you (ex: some people do not like to meditate). Every individual is unique and complex; therefore, it is key to learn what approach will work for you while working with me. 

I work with individuals experiencing depressive symptoms, a range of anxiety symptoms, life transitions, relationship issues, family dynamic issues, work-related problems, and short term goal making for personal improvement and growth. I also do a great deal of parenting work, as I am also a child and adolescent therapist.
